On Tuesday I showed you how I disinfected our home and laundry naturally after we caught a stomach bug in Sicily. I showed you how Maia followed me around with her own spray bottle to "help" me. She cracks me up! She's been such a great "helper" lately!
I'm realizing each day how much she watches me because little by little she's beginning to copy the things I do. Now she's expanded her cleaning routine to include windows. She insists on walking around with her own Shaklee spray bottle and towel. She points the bottle at the window and then wipes it down.
I don't actually let her spray anything - I keep the pump locked. She likes to "clean" more than just windows and has been seen "spraying" and wiping down the dogs! I'm sure they're grateful she's just pretending! She thinks it's great when I make a "psst, psst, psst" sound as she aims the bottle.
She has also taken a liking to sweeping. With two dogs, a cat, Maia, and my husband, I sweep at least twice a day. She sees me sweep every morning after breakfast and lately as soon as I'm done, she has to sweep too.
Luckily the sweeper has a telescoping handle so it's easier for her to manage! It's an electromagnetic sweeper that I've had for years. Do any of you have one? I LOVE it for the dog and cat hair. Unlike a broom that can make the hair fly around, this works with static electricity so the hair stays together. It's a great invention!! I couldn't live without mine!
Budva is afraid of the sweeper. Maia drops it pretty often and thinks it's funny to chase after the dogs with it. Innie doesn't care - Maia's even bopped him in the nose while he's laying down. He never even flinches. But Budva's a fraidy cat!! Unfortunately for her, Maia sweeps multiple times a day! Which means Budva is either under the coffee table or under my desk hiding…

What about that crazy hair?!?! Between my hair and my husband's, she was destined to have curly hair! It's starting to get long enough to curl and it's going WILD!!

Maia "cleans" everything…even the dog's quilt! (She's very thorough!)
My husband and I laugh because we figure by the time she's old enough to actually help around the house, she won't want to anymore. What a bummer for us!
At least for now I have my sidekick to "help" me with my daily chores…even if I have to fight her for the spray bottle!
Do your kids like to help around the house? Any suggestions on how to keep her enthusiasm for cleaning so one day she won't dread having chores?

ReplyDeleteMy youngest follows me around and cleans too... When she was just starting to crawl.. she would follow the vacuum everywhere it went. I was so surprised.. most babies are scared of vacuums.
