Cinch Berry Smoothie

I'm sure by now you've heard about the amazing special Shaklee has right now.  If you haven't read about it yet, read HERE.
I thought this would be a great chance to show you how I use the Cinch Vanilla Shake mix!

***

Growing up, I never really ate breakfast.  Sure I love pancakes, waffles, french toast…but who has time for that everyday??  (Never mind the fact that I'd be 400 pounds if I ate a hearty breakfast like that everyday!)

I love cereal, but I don't drink milk, so I just eat it dry.  When I was in high school and college I would go to class with a bag of cereal and just snack on it as I got hungry.  {Weird, I know!}

Breakfast was never a concern for me.  I just didn't eat it…

Until I started teaching.

There was something about working a full day in a classroom with 30 first graders that wore me out!  I found that I needed to start each day with breakfast in order to keep up with my kiddos.  Granted, breakfast still wasn't a big production for me, but I started paying more attention to how much protein I was eating.  I stopped eating cereal and I started looking for a more substantial alternative.

Over the next year, I tried many different options: breakfast bars, protein bars, protein shakes - anything that might be nutritious but give me the protein I needed to be energetic and productive until lunch.

To be honest, I never found anything I really liked.  A lot of the breakfast bars are mainly carbohydrates and don't satisfy my hunger for more than an hour.  Most of the protein bars were gross - and the ones that weren't were LOADED with sugar.  Protein shakes just aren't my thing.  I don't like milk and drinking milk mixed with powder just isn't something I can do.

Moving in with my husband, I was opened up to the world of smoothies for breakfast.  They are the perfect combination of everything I'd been looking in a breakfast: great taste, lots of protein, and I'm not hungry for hours!

So now one of my absolute favorite breakfasts is a Cinch Berry Smoothie and my husband makes OUTRAGEOUS smoothies!

Want to try it for yourself?

He wrote down his recipe so I could share with all of you!  (He also took these pictures as he was making mine last week!)

Here's what you need to make your own Cinch Berry Smoothie:
  • skim milk
  • strawberries
  • raspberries
  • blueberries
  • non-fat yogurt
  • ice cubes
  • Cinch Vanilla Shake mix

He measured out a cup of each of the following: milk, strawberries, raspberries, and blueberries.  He used 1/3 cup yogurt, 3 ice cubes, and 1-2 scoops of Cinch.  He put everything in a blender...

And here is my yummy breakfast!!

The best part, is you can make it however you want.  You can use mangoes and peaches instead of the berries and have a delicious mango-peach smoothie instead.  Add blackberries and cherries to the berries for another alternative.

We use frozen, organic fruits for our smoothies.  They are cheaper than fresh fruit and we can store them in the freezer without worry that they'll go bad.

We use Cinch Vanilla Shake mix, too.  You all know that we're a Shaklee family now so the obvious choice for our smoothies is Cinch.  It's made with Leucine, a protein that helps you lose fat without losing muscle so you stop yo-yo dieting.

I love these smoothies for breakfast!  It's great to wake up and have a delicious breakfast knowing that it's healthy, nutritious, and I won't be looking through the kitchen in an hour because I'm hungry again.
