Maia is into everything lately. She's taken a few steps by herself, but mostly she holds on for support. She crawls everywhere, though. She's always getting into something and I follow her around all day.
We've covered the outlets and close the doors to the stairs, but our big problem was protecting her from our wood-burning stove. It's our primary source of heat and MUCH more economical than using the electric baseboard heaters.
With the weather getting a lot colder, we needed to hurry up and baby-proof the stove. We went to the hardware store and bought a gate. It has five segments and is made of a really sturdy metal. Romas assembled it as Maia and I watched.
It is the perfect size and works great to keep Maia a safe distance away from the heat. I'm glad it's so perfect because it was SO expensive!! It was the only style we found in the store and it cost 120 Euros. It was one of those "this better work" moments because it wasn't fun forking over that much money. But it does work and it's absolutely perfect for us. Maia is safe.
The dogs and cat aren't too happy though. Last year they would all huddle as close as they could to the stove to sleep. This year, they've settled for leaning against the gate. Budva even sleeps with her nose through the bars. They're nuts.
