31 Days: Day 8 Subway Art

It's Day 8!  Ready for an easy project today?  I'm decorating for Halloween again - this time with subway art.  It's become so incredibly popular!  It wasn't hard to find art to use for today's post!

I found a few pieces that I wanted to try out in the house but I ran into a problem.  The art was created in the States and was sized 5x7 or 8x10.  I saved them on a thumb drive and went to the local German store to print them out.  Using the Kodak machine, I picked the size photos I thought would be equivalent and printed them out.

Guess what I found out?

The European size photos and the American size photos DON'T MATCH!  So…not only were my photos not going to fit in the frames I had at home, but a couple of the pictures were actually cropped as a result of the different size.  I should have known better!  We find that most things we expect to be simple turn into a fiasco over here.  I think I need to blog about all of the random issues we've had in our four years!

Anyway, the European sizes are narrower and longer than the American sizes.  Most of the photos I printed don't work in my frame because they are too long.  Disappointing.  I don't want to buy a German frame - I was going for a "cheap and easy" project!  In the end, it worked out fine.

This print is from eighteen25.  It is in a 5x7 frame but a lot of it was cut off when I framed it.  I love their website because they have cute subway art for every season!  They also have this sweet 'filler print' for your frame.

Again, it got cut off around the edges.  (grumble, grumble)  This one comes in all different color combinations!

I printed another for my 8x10 frame.  The chevron border is much wider around the outside, but I still love the way it looks!  They have this one is different color combinations too.

I'm going to have to cave and either order the prints from Kodak.com to ship here or go buy a European size frame!

Subway art is so much fun!  There are so many great pieces you can use to decorate for very little.  I made other prints that did not fit into the frames I had.  You can see them on my Halloween Pinterest board HERE.  I'm new to Pinterest.  I didn't want to get sucked into another time-consuming activity so I resisted the urge to even go check it out…until now!  Although I'm honestly still learning how to use it effectively, I am in LOVE with it!!  There are so many great ideas out there!
